Long Boarding Clinic with Thomas

From AUD $80.00
  • Duration: 90 Minutes (approx.)
  • Location: Ocean Grove, VIC
  • Product code: PCJJFH

Important note:

This session requires a certain level of clean and suitable waves to make it worthwhile. We are hopeful that we'll have something suitable on the date, but we may need to postpone the session if the conditions are not going to work for this advanced skill practice. If we need to postpone, you will have the option of a full refund or a spot on the new date TBC.

WHAT'S INCLUDED?

  • 1 x 90-minute surf lesson with Thomas, detailing the steps required to master cross stepping and movement along your board. For those who are able to comfortably move up and down your board, Thomas will go into the techniques involved in learning to noseride. Please note, noseriding is an advanced skill and you will need to be able to move up and down the deck of your board first, before being able to noseride.
  • We highly recommend you use a single fin longboard (log) for this session as you will have the best opportunity to cement the skills taught. We will have our foam boards available for anyone who does not have their own board and will actively assist participants in sourcing single fin logs for the session for  anyone wanting to participate who does not currently have one.

LOCATION

This lesson will take place at Ocean Grove Beach. The meeting location and further details will be emailed out the day before between 4 and 5pm.

Itinerary for the day

You're invited to arrive between 1:45pm and 2pm to get ready for the session and complete any necessary admin.

The surf lesson will start at 2pm.

What level of surfer is this for?

You should be confident surfing in at least 1-2ft unbroken waves and trimming across the face of the wave before signing up for this session. You should have a solid understanding of board control on a log or longer fibreglass board.

Do I need to be a good swimmer?

You should be able to comfortably tread water and swim 100-200m unaided, just in case your leg rope snaps and you lose your board.

What happens in the event of poor conditions?

To practice these skills, we do need suitable waves which we unfortunately can't control. We planned the lesson based on the tide data we have but if the waves are not suitable we will cancel the session and try to provide as much notice as possible. In the event of a cancellation, every participant will be given the option of a full refund or to have first dibs on a new date when it is announced. If the new date does not suit, you will still be entitled to a full refund at that time.
